The decision to found-ate the ASTRONOMICAL SOCIETY OF LIMASSOL, HIPPARCHUS was taken in Limassol during the first General Assembly of the society at May 28th 2009. The decision was taken unanimously by all the 25 founding members that were present during that assembly.
The ASTRONOMICAL SOCIETY OF LIMASSOL, HIPPARCHUS is a non-profitable society that has the following goals :
1) The spreading of interested for Astronomy, the observation of the sky and the explorations of space.
2) The collaboration among it members in order to extent their knowledge about Astronomy.
3) The pursuit for collaboration with local and foreign institution
The accomplishment of the above goals is archived with:
1) The systematic gathering of its members in order to observe of Celestial Events,
2) The fulfillment of scientific lectures and seminars,
3) The publish of newsletters and other printouts,
4) The creation of a relative to the astronomy library,
5) The organization of excursions with astronomical interested,
6) The collaboration with educational institutions and corresponding associations (independent of their nationality) that have equivalent interests with our society,
7) The organization of general gatherings of its members,
8) any other legal activity which can contributed in the accomplishment of the above goals.
